Unlike high lunge, the back heel is GLUED to the floor to stretch your calves and ankles. The edge of the back foot to the floor. Let me say that again, the back heel is ON the mat. The back foot is also turned out to a 45 degree angle, ONLY if it feels okay for the knee. Squaring the hips is priority, so adjust the back foot angle as needed.

That is one big difference between high lunge and warrior 1. Some of their similarities are:
🔸 the hips are SQUARED
🔸 the front knee is either directly above the ankle or slightly behind but not in front the ankle
🔸 the “normal” variations require the spine to be straight and NOT in a deliberate backbending position
🔸the shoulders are squared
🔸 the back leg is straight and strong
🔸 the shoulders are relatively relaxed and slightly pulled away from the ears
🔹 the hands and the gaze are debatable so i will just leave those details out here

Ook deze kwam gisteren in de Power Vinyasa online les voor. Hierbij ook een stap-voor-stap overzicht om je lichaam voor te bereiden om uiteindelijk naar de volledige houding te kunnen gaan. ( de eerste optie is net zo goed als dat je in de laatste optie staat, it's all about what YOU feel ;))

Step 1: Warrior 2 pose
Step 2: Side Angle Pose with hand in front of the foot
Step 3: Bind the hand together underneath the thigh of the front leg
Step 4: Bring the back leg forward and begin to shift weight
Step 5: Lift the bound leg up
Step 6: Straighten the lifted leg

Deze pose kwam gisteren in de online Power Vinyasa les voorbij. Hierbij nog een extra instructie hoe je de pose kunt opbouwen.
Elke week een stapje verder en tegen de tijd dat de lessen weer mogen starten in de studio, heb je de pose misschien ver onder controle. 🍀

This is how I enter flying pigeon and how I teach my students to do it. Even if you are not able to do it yet try to work on these steps. Even if today you can do only steps one and two is completely fine. Work on it and respect your body. Maybe you won't do it today but one day you will do it. When boosting the immune system you might think of the lungs but don’t forget to take care of the partner meridian, the large intestine. They both belong to the metal element which governs our immunity.

The large intestine meridian travels a similar area as the lung but on the outside of the arm, from the index finger up to the face.

Stimulate the energy flow with Closed Wing. Bring one arm under the chest or both at the same time. Support the head. Use your body weight to deepen by wiggling the lower body forward.
